THE NEW BREAKFAST NOOK

Hi sweet friend, I am so glad you are here. I absolutely love sharing the process of making our new house a home with you. Today I am happy to share our new breakfast nook with you. When we first saw this home I fell in love with everything but this kitchen and breakfast nook totally stole my heart. But I knew I wanted to add just a little more character to this space so we started by adding some shiplap to the walls. I love the way it brightens up the room and just adds a little something extra. I feel that it adds to the farmhouse vibe this home already has!

With this space, I took a little extra time to decide what I wanted to use for wall decor. I really loved the vintage mirror wall we used in our old dining room. However, for this space, I decided I wanted something a little different and unexpected. I loved the idea of using a chalkboard where I could change the message according to the season or celebration and also use it to write scriptures to encourage my family. We have had this large vintage frame for a few years and I had never used it in my other home because I did not have the perfect space for it. I guess the Lord knew when I bought this a few years ago that I would eventually have the perfect space for it! This was the PERFECT frame for the chalkboard in this space. We made the chalkboard by cutting a piece of wood to fit the frame and painted it using chalkboard paint! SO fun and easy!

I have linked a few other beautiful and similar chalkboards for you below.

I then decided it needed a little something extra because it felt a little bare to me with just the chalkboard.? I knew I wanted to try to use what I had on hand and I had lots of extra baskets in my decor stash and thought it would be fun to use them around the chalkboard. I absolutely love the way it adds so much texture and brings in some of the warm brown tones from the kitchen island, vent hood and beams.

I just used simple nails to hang the baskets. To hang the wood plate you see on the basket wall I used my favorite plate hanger. It was such an easy and fun way to add a little something special to this spot. Some great places to find baskets are thrift stores and estate sales but I have also linked several below for you.. just in case you don’t have access to a thrift store or are like me and love to shop online!

To add to the fresh summery vibe of this space I added some fun colorful flowers and my white wicker chargers and ruffled linen napkins!

I am so happy with the way this space has come together and I hope it inspires you to maybe think outside of the box when decorating your spaces and have fun! Life is too short to let fear hold you back.

You can create a cozy, beautiful and functional home for your family to love and enjoy!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you feel inspired and encouraged!!!

Blessings,

Hope
